I haven't been able to get this version or the previous version of wififofum to work with my X5 basic and Symbol card. On their site it looks like others with this sort of configuration are having success with the progrm so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It sure looks like a great program and the mods on the site are very helpful-- must be me.

As far as i can see, it works with my socket card (its a symbol card with socket drivers, you might want to try those bookie) but can anyone tell me if the device name for my socket card is NETWLAN1??? Thanks

gstein, so you are running the Socket drivers instead of the new Symbol utilities that came out in February? Is wififofum better than the new Symbol drivers (if you've ever installed them)? The search utility I am using is passable, but I'd take a chance if I could do better. I just hesitate to fix something that isn't particularly broken.

The symbol card works if you use the symbol drivers without the utility. I haven't been able to have them work with both, but if you can live without the utilities, the separate driver has the option to turn wifi on and off (something the utility lacks).

Thanks effortless. And do you think wififofum offers better features than the full function Symbol utility? I read in another thread that users there could find broadcasts but couldn't connect. That doesn't seem too useful.

... I can't even connect to my own home wifi network. The only thing it does is try to bring up the dial up screen to connect that way. I can see my network, see that it's encrypted, but don' have the option to connect with wififofum. In the zero config utility I've played with everything I can see to allow me to access what I could yesterday with the Symbol utility but nothing.

Joel, you mentioned on the wififofum board that you needed the tap-to-connect function back. Without that option is there any way to connect? I dumped the Symbol utilities in favor or the browser feature of wififofum but now I can't even access my own network. I see it, just don't know how to connect.

As of yet I haven't figured that out. It worked in the older version, and I am hoping the developer answers the question. The program otherwise works as expected.
