Total Commander vs. Resco File Explorer

Which is better. What are the majore differences? Any gripes about either one? I use total commander right now. Is there anything that resco file explorer offers that would justify shelling out the cash?

Sounds like Resco is a winner. I have been happy with TC but there are some features in Resco that will enable me to install less programs on my PDA. IS Resco a BIG install? Have you used the HP printing? Iguanaman Thanks for the info.

I'm using Resco file Explorer 2003 Version 5.0.

No, I haven't tried the printing feature yet. I haven't had a real need for it so far.

Do you remember how much space the install was or if you can install it to the Built in Storage?

The only thing I really like about Resco over Total Commander is that Resco can Map Network Drives, and it also has a nicer GUI. However, Total Commander can also see networked computers, you just need to know the computers' names, and I recently have had a lot of trouble getting Resco to map drives. Because Total Commander is free, I would stick with it. You can try the demo version of Resco, and some features work even after it expires, such as System Information. I also dislike the registry viewer included with Resco. There is a free version of regedit made by phm, http://www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC that works nicely. PHM also includes many other utilities and powertoys, even a PocketPC PLUS! that adds some nice functions to the Axim. These are all for free and are great. While you will need to use more space, you can install all these to Built-in Storage or a SD card, and they provide all the functionality that Resco would.

So to make my answer short, go with Total Commander and PHM applications, you save money, and get more than what you would with Resco.
There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Thanks, I have downloaded the stuff from PHM and will try that before I try the demo of Resco. Any one else have an opinion?

Well I would try the Resco trial and then make up your mind. I don't see Total Commander or PHM doing FTP site attachment nor any of the other nicities that Resco has. I installed Resco into my main memory (default location) and it takes up about 2 meg total.

I'm using Total Commander and I'm very happy with it! It's FREE! I'm also using it at my desktops.
