Sprite Backup

I have been checking the forum each day and find quite a bit of talk about Sprite Backup. First of all do I need it and if so which version? Second can I load the program on a secure digital card so I will not use the pocket pc memory and can I also do a complete backup to this card? Thanks for all your help for I have learned alot about my new toy!

I've been learning all about pocket pc's over the past three weeks as well. Yes you can make a backup to your SD card. You don't want to backup to your built in storage because if you do a hard reset that data will be lost. I recently was unable to restore a sprite backup, but I seem to be the first one to have any trouble with this program, so I would still recommend it.

Sorry, but built-in storage doesn't get erased with a hard reset. I've had a few hard resets on a few different pocketpc's and they all kept what I had stored there. You must mean the main memory?

Another nice option in Sprite is the ability to make the backups self-executable. It doesn't increase the size much and it adds another layer of safety to the backup.
The invention of the flamethrower suggests that someone thought, "you know, I'd really like to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just too lazy to walk."

Thanks for the information! One more question can Sprite Backup be installed to the Secure Digital Card? The program itself or do I have to put it on my memory on the PDA.

I will put on in my BIS. Now which version of Sprite Backup are you suggesting I use a standard or a premium? Thanks again.

Don't remember for sure, but I suggest to MAIN, so if your SD Card is missing you will still get your Auto Backup,
.....providing, of course that there is an SD Card in the slot AND it has the correct Folder on it.

I'd also suggest creating one of these Folders on all your SD Cards.

(SD and CF can be interchanged if you prefer to us a CF Card.)

I use Premium, not sure if Basic has all the options outlined in my link.

Yes it can. There is no need to put it in Program Memory.

The backup files should be put either in your SD card or in Built-in Storage.

Sprite Backup can compress backup files, which reduces their size by some 50%. It can be scheduled to backup weekly or daily - I strongly recommend daily.

I'm confused. I'm new to pocket PC's and I've been installing all my programs into built in storage. Am I suppose to install my programs into main memory?

No, it's best to keep your Main Memory free for running programs. BIS is fine for most apps.

Yes! Mine will do the complete backup, and then freeze during the "Verifying the Backup" stage. Anyone else?
