Any free or low cost alternate to List Pro?

I really like my demo version of List Pro, however I find it a lttle pricey for what I would use it for. I really only need it for Christmas shopping once a year.
Are there any other programs that perform a similar function utilizing check boxes? Any other suggestions would be appreciated as my demo runs out in two days and there are are still 16 days of shopping left!

Your family and friends aren't worth it during the holidays???

Search Pocketgear, there are two or three other advanced list programs that are similar.

My opinion is nothing compares to ListPro...

I know this isn't why you posted, but I'll put in another plug for ListPro. Once you buy it, you'll find many more uses, I promise. Christmas is great (and for Christmas cards!), but so are auto maintenance, cd or book libraries, to-do's, packing for travel, etc.

I still use it for just about everything (and if I don't, it's in eWallet!)

I'd put it on YOUR Christmas list, and maybe someone else will buy it for you.
What if this weren't a rhetorical question?

If you are just interested in a freeware shopping list app, I would suggest you check out FridayShopping. You can get it at http://www.fridayshopping.com. It's pretty good for shopping lists and you shouldn't have too much trouble organizing it for your Christmas list.

I've been naughty this year, so I couldn't wait for Santa to come through! Ilium is offering a discount code for $3.00 off. Thanks for your advise. I only needed one person to talk me into it. Discount Code# DC2XPOL2 on Ilium's site only, for anyone interested. Thanks.

Great, JQ! Enjoy the two-step lists, or whatever they call them. Those can be enormously helpful for repetitive listing tasks, like grocery, or inventorying.

Long ago I made up a 'state's quiz' list, with information on all the United States, by state... state bird, flower, date, etc. With indentured lists you can hide the 'answer' too.

Be sure to check out their downloadable lists, people have spent quite a bit of time on some of those, and I still use a couple of the ones I d/l'd last year.

HandyShopper is good freeware, with a distinguished pedigree in the Palm world: http://www.freewareppc.com/database/handyshopper.shtml

That's exactly what I was looking for! I used this on my Palm and didn't realize there was a PPC version. Oh, well, I purchased ListPro which is a great program, but I hate paying for programs I won't use fully. I miss that in the Palm world. Mind you, that's the only thing I miss.

You must have much better memory than I I rely heavily on ListPro just to function.

Take a look at all the free list download from the Examples and Templates section of ListPro List Exchange

Don't feel too badly - it's a little buggy still (it's database got corrupted on me once - fortunately I can use hs2txt to export it to a comma-delimted text file).

The cool thing about it is that it uses the same .pdb format as the Palm version - so you can easily exchange your database between your Palm and your Pocket PC!

I agree you can beat ListPro for a great list program. Also, at the ListPro website you can download lots of lists that other users have created and there are many many to download for free and use with ListPro. This was a great way to enhance what is already a great program so if your on the edge of deciding if you want to spend you $$$ on ListPro, look at the downloadable lists from their web site.

ListPro is a poor name for this product. Those recommending Handyshopper and Superlist aren't recognizing ListPro's database functionality. The only other piece of software I know of like ListPro is MobileDB. I used to use MobileDB on my Palm device as it's a great tool. There are literally thousands of downloadable databases for MobileDB (as opposed to a hundred or so downloadable lists for ListPro) but the down side is MobileDB is $10 more.

The one major drawback to LP (or other such proggy's, tho this is prob a limitation of the OS) is that I wish you could link these lists to tasks/appts and have them on the Today screen... the concept having a task on the Today screen that says to go Groc shopping, but then to have to launch another prog to get the shopping list, just offends me as a geek that they are not integrated more

Not really a knock against any one prog as much as a "wow wouldn't this be neat" idea.

LP looks really good tho.
