Free Wifi Software Help
Hi there,
i was wondering if anybody knows of a free software utility that connects your AXIM to WIFI hotspots with better ease than the supplied DELL utility. I was using POCKET WINC, but it is not free. this software, it does everything by automatic. it seeks out the strongest source, and connects you to it. also, if the link goes down, it will keep you connected by "skipping" signals. does anybody know of another, perhaps, FREE utility which will do this? it is a real pain doing all of this manually, and if i'm near a weak hotspot, i find myself having to go back into SETTINGS and manually renewing my IP ADDRESS. also, does anybody know of a website which perhaps has FREE software for the AXIM on it? i'm sure i'm not the only one here...

That connects your Axim to hotspots? There are a couple of WiFi scanners out there that are free, specifically MiniStumbler, WiFiFoFum, and WiFi Graph. A google search on any of these titles will yield a download link. They're worth a look, don't think they replace the Dell WLan util in terms of the ability to connect you to a WLan, they are more of a scanner to detect hotspots . . .

I'm still confused most of the time with wifi on the axim x50v.
Basically, I use different tools for different types of networks. no WEP: Dell WLAN utility WEP 64-bit: Odyssey client WEP 128-bit: Odyssey client WPA-PSK (TKIP): Odyssey client Played around with Pocket Winc, and it works well for WEP connections but there was no configuration options for WPA-PSK sites. Ministumbler doesn't work with built-in wifi adapter. Wififofum used to find networks, but I was never really successful at using it to connect.
