Help with Sprite Backup

After reading so many glowing reviews, I downloaded the trial of Sprite Backup Premium 3.1.4. Backing up to my SD card works perfectly, but the PC-based Sprite Backup PC Agent won't work at all. First, most of the options are grayed out in the options menu. Second, whenever I try to initiate backup from my PC, I get an error about the device not being in the cradle (it is). In addition, PocketMon is obviously non-VGA (fuzzy images) and I have no use for Space Detective.

I am starting to think I should just go with the Standard version and save $10. Have other X50v owners had any luck with the backup to PC functions, and if so, do you think this alone is worth the extra $10?

Okay, I managed to get the PC-initiated backup working with the Sprite Backup PC Agent. The trick was giving it server rights in my firewall.

I agree with your thinking, go with the standard version and manually copy your backup files to your PC. I've been doing this for 10 mo. now, works great!

There seems to be one other reason I should consider the Premium version - it looks like it will let me schedule backups. I am awful about remembering to do backups, it might be worth a little extra $ to force me to do it regularly!

I've never worried about scheduled backups, I just create a backup every time I make a major system modification, or about every other day. I wouldn't use the scheduler if I had it!!

LOL That is the main reason I purchased. It is so nice not to have to worry about it.

The standard version (as of version 3.1.3) allows scheduled backups. I bought the standard - didn't need the today screen stuff, and the integration with the desktop just didn't seem necessary, as wooch points out above.
