Question Terminal Service Emulator?

Is there another program that I can use on my XP Home to let my Axim connect? VNC is sooooooo slow... I have to hard-reset each time I use it....I dont think I wanna use logmein, because i would be going over the internet, over dial-up, then to my comp...2 ft. away.....Any suggestions?

Does XP Home not include Remote Desktop? If it does, the WM Terminal Services client works great.

I know people say VNC is slow, but I don't remember VNC being slow when I tried it 3 weeks ago or so.

Yes, use the terminal services client. Works well. I believe you can connect to xp home, you just can't use the xp home box to initiate a remote connect.

You can connect to XP Pro if you allow remote desktop connection on your host machine. I use Terminal Service to operate my file boxes upstairs. With ozVGA it's very useable.

Cheers

How do I determine the correct IP address to connect from outside my LAN using the terminal services client?
I'm using a router and the IP addressing gets confusing.

Access your router's HTML interface (i.e. for Linksys it is 192.168.1.1 and if my memory serves Netgear is 192.168.0.1) and check for the external WAN IP address. On Linksys routers, depending upon firmware you can view the external IP by checking the status tab. Once you determine the external IP address, ensure to forward port:3389 to a static internal address (i.e. the one assigned to the desktop that you want to RDP).

Did a little googling and it appears Khris is right - XP Home can use the Remote Desktop client to connect to XP Pro computers, but it can't act as a RD server to allow other computers to connect to it.

Just another reason to avoid XP Home.
