Is RegKing a good program...
... for improving refresh rate on the menus and commonly used programs by increasing the GlyphCache? I saw it mentioned in a couple reviews and was wondering if it is worth downloading.

I've found this software (and many other tweaking apps) to be VERY buggy. I've consistantly had the font size and system warning boxes become so small, it makes them (and many programs) unusable. Other tweaks did work though, so it may be worth trying for the setting you want, but as indicated in many threads on this site, back up your system before making running any questionable progs or making any tweaks or adjustments to your system.

Just make sure you get Regking 2003 and not one of the older versions. AFAIK none of the automated tweak programs has ever spontaneously changed font or column sizes, you'd have to do that yourself. Personaly I use Tweaks2k2.Net v3.10. Frank Garcia customer support is outstanding.

The only thing I've found in RegKing that is pure poison is the font size hack. MS changed the way font sizes are represented in WM2003SE, and it really messes up the system fonts.
Before using RegKing, I'd advise downloading PHMRegEdit and backing up your registry to BIS or a storage card. That way if you really screw anything up, you can restore your registry the way it was. I do this every week or so anyway, whether I change the registry or not. | |||
