Software for dead pixel
Hello all, I heard that there are softwares that can help locate dead/stuck pixels and fix them. This does not always work, just like the massaging technique which i tried without success.
Those programs can change colors on the screen in a very fast way which can cause the stuck pixel to unstuk. I tried a program called Pocket LCD but it doesn't change the colors automatically. Has anyone any idea about this kind of softwares? I have a stuck pixel on my display and it's driving me crazy... Thanxall.

Dunno about the changing colors and stuff... but perhaps you could make a video with lotsa colors to make it go crazy with colors.
In terms of the massaging... it wont work with the PPC because it has a glass digitizer ontop of the LCD.. which is why it doesnt do that blob thing.

I have not heard of an app that also claims to fix dead pixels.
hp includes a self test that does that type of thing, although I wouoldn't think it would fix anything. Does Dell have a similar app?

I almost downloaded the dead pixel app posted by Gigi. Then realized that I've been using this X50v since the first week in November with no complaints. What if I actually find a dead pixel that I hadn't seen before?
My bliss would be destroyed! I decided not to download the app!

Lol if I ever get dead pixels they sure wouldn't last long. I use my Axim for a lot of videos (lately some AMVs of Final Fantasy games set to cool music from Linkin Park, etc). There's so much going on pixels would go crazy and fix themselves

I was under the impression that a truely dead pixel was caused by a manufacting fault, of wich it is acceptable to have upto 3 dead pixels before Dell will replace you unit.
If that is the case you should not worry about getting more... If there is a "fix" that works I'd be very interested to actually see it...

Yes, given what I know about LCD screens, I highly doubt you can unstick a pixel. The only moving "parts" of an LCD are the liquid crystals, and given that it's highly unlikely that they would get stuck while surrounding pixels don't, it seems more like an electrode problem.

Dell actually suggested a replacement unit, but I refused cos 1- I don't live in the US. 2- They will send a refurb not a new unit, so it's a risk of ending up with a worse unit which I'm not willing to take.
