Tengo - I just saved $129 on a keyboard

I've been shopping for a keyboard to use with my Axim. I was pretty certain I was going to get the TO Bluetooth ($149 retail; $90 on Amazon).

My use is primarly journal writing when I'm away from my laptop. Especially when I travel and need to kill a couple of hours in an airport or on a plane.

Did some searching around and started reading about Tengo. All I can say is WOW!

While it isn't as fast as a keyboard, it is truly a better way to enter text.

Advantages to a keyboard:
  • Don't need a flat surface
  • Don't need extra batteries
  • Don't have to worry about FAA regulations regarding wireless devices on airplanes
  • Less expensive
  • It's one less piece of hardware to carry

Disadvantages to a keyboard:
  • Slight learning curve to learn
  • It uses predictive text, which some people might not like (although this can be disabled)

On another note, I've also discovered that Phatpad Lite (the one that came with PI 2005) is a great program for journaling. It exports to csv which is easily imported into just about any database software.

I'm one happy clam!

Yes, Tengo is a very good app. I've been using Tengo for a couple years now. You can get so fast with it that you start to bog down your machine. IIRC, the best speed I got was about 40 WPM.
