Cool New Freeware: "SafeMode" for PPC

I just saw this on PocketGear today. It's a freeware program called SafeMode. (Like SafeMode on Windows, which boots up the OS with a minimal set of drivers, etc.)

It's a small utility that allows you to boot-up the PPC by bypassing the today screen plug-ins, etc. if you have having problems with certain lockups, etc.

Since I play with a lot of beta apps, this sounds worth trying. Here's the link to the developers page: http://www.monocube.com/

Here's the PocketGear link: http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=18188

For some reason the first one I installed from PG didn't seem to work. So, I just downloaded the one from the developer site and installed it over the PG one and it works well.

Worth a look.

Nice find. It's an interesting concept for PPC.

Yeah. It seems to work, but I haven't had to test it for "real" yet.

Hmm.. neat I wonder how it works I know it installs a file to the windows dir but other than that, its pretty neat. I usually do a fake hard reset to get out of those loops, but I think it will be advantageous to have this to rid of stubborn files.

it is when you hard reset but when the window comes up asking if you want to delete all files you press cancel..

I just tried it and 0.5 works as advertised. I could have used this last week...

0.6 is now out which disables 3rd party SIPs.
