(but I haven't tried it either.... after you )

OK I could only stare at the big red button this long before cracking!

Installed it, did a soft reset and it worked fine. I got an option to press the "Action" button (middle of D-pad) and sure enough it booted into safe mode. I could still access settings and programs.

I reset it again and everything sprung back into life okay.

So that at least seems to confirm it doesn't break anything. Probably.
