recommend some good backup/recovery software?

I'm getting a bit tired of the number of times I keep having to hard reset the Axim (due to battery drained, bad software messing up the PDA etc.), so I'm on the lookout for good software which i can use to backup everything i have installed on the PDA and SD card as an image. Is there such a software out there?

Do a search of the forums for Sprite software (it's additional $$), or you can just use Activesynch to restore to your x50v

thanks for that. I'll check out Sprite.
I don't mind paying a few $$$'s just to make the restore a bit easier.

I use Sprite also. You can't go wrong with it, in my opinion.

Sprite not only does my daily backups, but it also has a special feature for "restoring" to a new device or after a ROM update. Well worth the price. Check out my review at MobileTechReview.

I checked out your PDA site and it's very good and informative. It should be required reading if you own a PDA.

Isn't the built-in Data Back-Up sufficient? I used Sprite on my old Ipaq but it seems a little superfluous now?

I believe that the built-in Dell backup is all-or-nothing. Sprite can tailor the backup and be scheduled a number of different ways. Sprite can also back up to the desktop and has the upgrade feature that I mentioned.

For me the biggest flaw in the Built in backup software system was..

.. Me

The thing about backups is if you forget to do them then they're useless. So paying sprite $30 to make sure I always have an up to date backup seems like a bargain to me.

Excellent review there, and managed to pick up a few hints and tips on the Sprite software web site FAQ section on making customised backups.

Great piece of software. beats the built in backup option hands down.
