Well,
This question is bugging me. Can I open a self extract backup file that belongs to my Axim X50V on my friend X50V (a different one with factory settings). I know that most of the application won't work due to a licensing issues but the real Q is : Will the backup file extract himself and build my Axim on my frined Axim ? Will Sprite self extract file holds information regarding the devices it has been created on ? Which brings me to the 1M$ question : How do you check your backup file ??? !!! | |||||

Yes, it will work but legally you shouldn't do this. I won't call the SW cops on you though. I check my backup file by restoring once in a while. I did restore everyone of them at the beginning to make sure but not anymore.

good to know, too, if you backup and have to send you X50v back and get a new one, on warranty or damage plan or whatever

I have tested mine everynow and then but now I don't. I just do frequent backups and I keep them all. So if one fails maybe another one will work in the worse case senario.
