Probably zero, but we really don't know which way the the man he met was traveling.
What gmuraoka wrote, but we also don't know if the wives were traveling with the man at the time, so can't tell is my answer. We also don't know if it's written in prosaic or poetic form, so the question might be constructed just to rhyme, and then the answer is 1 (implied collision course for everyone else. otherwise still can't tell).
