Remember when a professional athelete's main activity was his sport

Remember when a country's leader wasn't juged by how good his spin-doctor's were

Remember when a cartoon didn't spawn world-wide violence and a month's worth of headlines

Remember when the news was something seen once a day in the local paper, once an evening at 6pm and occasionally listened to on AM radio

Remember AM radio... heck, remember (non satalite) radio

Remember when someone who had power also had a responsability wasn't only a line from Spider-Man

Remember when we didn't have blog-type forums and we had to rely on our friends to listen to us blather on like this...

Learn as much as you can. Do what you think is right. Don't fear losing. When down, pick yourself right back up. Do not give up. Do not give in. Keep going forward. If you can do all of that and like what you see in the mirror, you are where you want to be... and ahead of most.

...we used punch cards to program a computer in school. We'd hand the cards in to the teacher and a couple weeks later we'd get them back. If the program failed you'd have to start the process all over.

Remember when a nickel or a dime would get you a bag full of candy, from open wooden bins in a candy store, where they only sold candy. And you could walk there from gramma's house, without an adult.

Remember when you would run out of the house in the summer after breakfast, and maybe see your mom at lunch time, maybe, and then not again until dinner, when she called and called you through the neighborhood. And then, after going back out after dinner, you finally went home when the street light was on.

I can't remember much but I do remember gas below a buck,

I remember climbing trees in the neighbors yards with friends, and now worry about a lawsuit,

I remember when the SUV became big,

I remember watching Desert Storm on TV,

I remember when someone respected someone because they earned it,

I also remember respecting those people of authority because they deserved it.

Wait! I remember when bands played instruments! And if some football player celebrated after a play the other guys would pummel him. Imagine Walter Payton doing an endzone dance. Never! Back then he'd score, toss the ball to the ref and run off the field. He'd act like he'd been there before because he had. Many many times.
