deftech - thanks for the tip on the Vector. just got my first ticket in a long time, thanks to my weekend fun car - 1976 Porsche 911S (the reason for my latest avatar). my dad was the original purchaser and decided he didn't want the headache any longer. it came to me much to my siblings disappointment. i'm usually pretty cautious and keep the speed down. you may see me taking the long way home (via the coast) between Marin and Sonoma counties on a Friday afternoon w/ my Ax plugged into the tape player (still got an old Blaupunkt)! usually i'm just humpin down 101 in a '99 Civic. friday's just around the corner :)
here my 1st baby and my newest baby!!!

I drive a 2003 GMC Envoy, seats seven (but theres only three in our family), drives liberals nuts!! I should buy another one. I love the size, it is huge, but what a great riding vehicle.
My other car is a 2000 Grand Am SE. Should have gotten the GT, a little pricey but much more fun to drive. Can't wait to see what the new GTO is going to look like in person....

I have a '99 Honda CR-V mini-sport-ute. I love the thing.
Last year I donated my '92 Dodge Shadow ES to one of my favorite charities: The Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue organization. They fixed it up, sold it, and made some money to take care of their dogs until they are adopted.
She's had quite a bit of work done under the hood and a LOT of suspension work done. I raced the car in Solo I and Solo II series for 7 years. She has almost 260K Km on her and will still pull 0-100Km (0-60mph) in under 6 sec with an estimated 250 - 260 hp @ 15 psi boost. Not bad for a 2.0 L rice-rocket with high mileage.
Originally posted by deftech Check out the Beltronics Vector 940! It has a price, but kills all of the others on the market. I previously had a Cobra 9200, and it never picked up on a Police radar or laser until you're already too close for comfort. The BEL Vector 940, however, picks up on them WAY in advance....sometimes even like a minute before I get to the trooper. You can check out some "unsolicited" reviews of radar detectors at RadarTest. Just look at how much better the sensitivity is on the BEL detectors than on any other brand.

Chris...
My BEL Vector 940 does indeed have VG-2 protection built in. Works fine for me. I've had it go off on a few of them in Florida. But most importantly, I one time forgot to unplug the thing when I went to Virginia (they're illegal there)....and it went off like 20 miles into the state. :) Went ahead and took it down at that point.....didn't want it just sitting on my visor in plain sight.

There's no such thing as too much horsepower if your driving ability is up to the task :D I generally prefer the smaller engines, though. I'm not a drag-race type guy. Straight line is for fast cars... corners are for fast drivers ! I've put far more $$ into my suspension than into my motor
Why carry the weight of a V8 and the inherent unbalance in the car when you can get the same power from a smaller forced induction engine? There's a couple guys I know in town with 400+ HP Talons.
