Should know that Pedah does not qualify for temporary membership of this thread in it's present format but that ineligibility will cease on Sunday night.
As for your earlier stats kc are you aware that the USA has not only not won the Ryder Cup this decade, you have not won it this century and more staggeringly you have not won it this millennium?

Since you're such an expert on Ryder Cup history - WHO was it that convinced the Brits they needed to add the European players because he wanted to elevate the competition? The Americans were tired of winning almost every year. And then, it took another 3 Ryder Cup Matches before the "Europeans" beat the Americans.
And, What country has dominated the British Open in the oever the last 10 years?

S/K - You need to learn to stand on your own two feet without assistance. :)

Should know that to pick 12 from 250Million as against 12 from 50Million = no contest but even allowing for that we still won a couple.
America in general, excepting perhaps China and the old USSR, are undoubtedly going to produce far more top class sportsmen/women than the UK but we still manage to hold our own in most areas. How are your track cyclists doing these days? Or your Para Olympians?
It was only right and proper that the RC was expanded to include European countries but don't kid yourself that it was ever anticipated that the new world order would change so dramatically because it most definitely wasn't. But that is something that was way beyond our control so we should not get hung up on it. What is also interesting is that, excluding perhaps Kiowa Island, Europe have always gone into a match with less players in the worlds top 20 than the US but we still prevail more than our share of the time. Lets not also forget the woeful RC record of the current world numbers 1 & 2 players. Form and status count for very little in this format. What counts is teamwork and this is where we differ. Harrington will play with, and get on perfectly with, whoever Faldo chooses. I know it doesn't apply this time but how do Tigger and Michelson get on? We all know the answer to that. When they played together they would hardly watch each others shots let alone speak to each other. But in a microcosm that is my argument and something we touched on earlier - teamwork. If you think about it the fact that Tigger is posted missing may not be a bad thing for the US team and I hope that prediction does not come back to haunt me. We'll see.
Forgive me if I'm mistaken but haven't the last two British Opens, and indeed the last two majors been won by a southern Irishman? Do Ben Curtis and Todd Hamilton strike you as being forces to contend with in future years, battling each other for the right to win their 5th major? The same also applies to Paul Lawrie and that proves that sometimes, in fact quite a lot of times, it is an unknown or unfancied player who prevails. The USPGA winners list is a veritable whose (not) who of golfing non-greats. That is undeniable.
Now lastly, in open forum, are you up for a small wager? One Saltire v one Old Glory, posted 2nd class of course, well I am Scottish. What do you say?
