Should know that I'm a widower living in a relatively large house.

I find it very practical that I don't have to remember to switch off the light in the food store, the kitchen, stairs etc.

Also when I'm comming home late it's very practical to have the lights turned on automatically in my carport and at the frontdoor and entrance.

My reversible sercurity system is quite another story :o

S/K - The first part I already knew, the other parts, I agree. I use timers to turn certain lights on/off at designated times. I also have a remote control setup from my car so I can turn a couple of lights on before I enter the house. We also have a security alram system that is set anytime we'll be gone for more than an hour. :)

S/K - Yes, but it's with my son in WI. It's an 870 Magnum that he uses for hunting. I do have mace in the house in strategic locations. I used to have a 44 Magnum handgun, but sold it before we moved to FL. Too much kick for me anymore.

S/K - 12Ga. I assume they still use the 870 in the military. So, you'll learn to use one. It's a nice pump action. I always figured that if I heard a burgler in the house, all I'd have to do is pump the action and they'd be gone. :)

s/k Week Four mostly consists of weapons training. Recruits are familiarized with the M9 and the Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 (the Navy no longer gives weapons training on the M16 during basic training).

S/K - You're right about that. We learned on the M1 & 45. M16 traininig came after boot camp for me.
