Originally posted by Howard2k I would have to look them up. Wayfinder will probably know. The recent is actually (surprisingly) well documented.
They can primarily be found in the Jerusalem Bible, which is a Catholic publication. They are not accepted in the majority of modern Biblical translations simply for the reason that they are propagated solely by the Catholic Church.

Howard2k,
Not to be rude, but you made a claim. It is your responsibility to back it up. I am interested in what books you are referring to...
No no you're wrong. It's up to you to research what he claims yourself. It's the truth because it is, and it's up to you to find it. That's how we handle claims in this thread.
No one is responsible for backing up what they say... well some of us do but it's not a requirement.

The air is so thick with sarcasm, you can cut it...

I'm just trying to inject levity in a thread that is quickly disintegrating into name calling and fingerpointing.
"Can't we all just get along?"

You know Ike ol' boy, I almost laughed at this one. Because I went to this page, click on a link that says, "Name of G-d" and what do I find? QUOTE:
The Name of God
• The Significance of Names
• The Names of God
• Writing the Name of God
• Pronouncing the Name of God
The Name of God
Level: Basic
Please note: This page contains the Name of God. If you print it out, please treat it with appropriate respect.
The Significance of Names
==============
Man, it seems to me like the word "God" is used a whole lotta times there.
The site goes on to say:
============================
The most important of God's Names is the four-letter Name represented by the Hebrew letters Yod-Heh-Vav-Heh (YHVH). It is often referred to as the Ineffable Name, the Unutterable Name or the Distinctive Name.
========================
Which is exactly what I told you in my message. So how am I incorrect here?
And for the record, I'm not too lazy to click a couple of links. Considering the amount of time I spend posting here, I definitely don't have the time to go goose-chasing a concept that I already know to be factually incorrect. If I wanted to be mean, I could accuse you of being too lazy to provide the correct link in the first place, eh? But I didn't, don't want to at this time, don't intend to.
When you get to Bible turf, I know a little bit. Not a lot, but a little.

Well, that's kind of the reason it started - what's the saying? You can't find an atheist in a fox hole. (Obviously many of us here have not been to war)
