No Jwilk... I got tired of the evolutionists ignoring the data that was presented, and I got tired of the juvenile attitude that was becoming ever more evidenced in the messages here-- and decided to devote my time to more worthwhile things.

that reminds me . . .

for any who have been in the navy (and even those that have not), the phrase "swears like a sailor" should ring a bell. the tone of this thread reminds me of my time on board subs. everyone - from the captain on down knew my religious beliefs and convictions. not because i wore them on my sleeve, but because when it came up in conversation i was willing to be upfront with them. i conducted myself a little differently than what they thought i should act like - both as a sailor and as a christian. and when, as sailors often do, swearing came into the conversation, if i was involved, invariably the "oh sorry chief" would be heard. out of respect for me not my position. when asked about "religious" stuff i would answer. i was the command lay leader (as in laity, for any who might go down a different path here!:) ) for a couple of years.

point is, j and x, especially, i have developed a respect for. may never see eye to eye on some things, but i am sure there is common ground if nowhere else than the fact we "got an ax dudes!"

as usual well said HN.

Not everyone sees eye to eye on every issue (as we've seen with the short discussion of ice cream preference) but when we can argue intelligently the points and merits and treat each other with respect we all "win" if that is the correct term to use here.

I do not know if anyone has posted something like tihs earlier int he thread. (I did not take the 2 hrs to read all 73 pages). If someone has said this before then I am just backing them up. not corecting them.

The Bible states that everyone on earth has done wrong things, it also states that God is a holy being, and cannot be with us in our sinful state. When man sinned, his sentence was death, (ie eternity in Hell) but because God loves us he came up with a way that we could sacrifice animals on our behalf, so that we would not have to die. Those sacrifices were not enough, so God promised us a Messiah. After many years of sacrificing animals, God sent his son Jesus, to live a perfect life, and then die for us, in our place, so that we would not have to die. All we have to do is accept that and beleive in all of the above. We cannot be a strictly New Testiment Christian, because without the Old Testiment, God would have had no reason to send his son to die for us. When we accept what God did for us, God forgives us. Therefore Christians are not perfect, we are just as sinful as anyone. The difference is we are forgiven. All other religions require that we do something to compensate for our sin. In Christianity God did all the work, and all we have to do, is accept his gift to us. If we do that not only are we forgiven, but when we die, we go to heaven.

That is what I beleive.

Aren't there parts of the Bible that state that there is more to it than just accepting? I mean, there is a lot more in the Bible than just John 3:16, isn't there?

Yes there is a lot more to the Bible then just John 3:16. However what I just explained is the gospel (good news). The only thing required of you to be forgiven and get into heaven is that you beleive and accept Gods free gift. Most religions require that you do something, such as try to outweigh the bad things you have done in your life with good things. Christianity only requires that you beleive and accept.

God Became Man so that Man can Become God

I will become God in life and nature but not in the GodHead.
