i am just curious . . . based on the thread revolving around the same sex marriage issue, what philosophy/ideas are out there concerning what happens when we die. i am not after debate, only what thoughts anyone might have. not only am i curious just for curiousities sake - but i am toying with using the info at some point for a research paper in my major field - psychology. i think anyone who read through the same sex marriage thread knows my opinion! ;)
thanks ahead of time for your thoughts.

I believe that for every individual on this planet there is a philosophy about what happens when we die. I'm assuming you are more concerned with the "spiritual" nature of death as opposed to the physical. We, of course, know what happens at he physical level.
So, to start the ball rolling.....I'll know when I get there. But what I suspect happens is nothing.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.
I believe I will be immediately in the presence of my creator and will hear "Well done my good and faithful servant". I do not claim to be perfect...just forgiven. I do not contend that I deserve this more than anyone else. I do not believe that I get to decide who goes, for it is not my party...I have just responded to the invitation.
I believe many answers here will be one day fullfilled. I believe that Hell is merely complete seperation from God. With out God there is nothing. So for many of us here I believe they are correct and that there will be a whole lot of nothing for them to find.
And.... I sincerely do hope to see all of you in God's presence! I am certain I will be surprised at both who's there and who's not!
I am very much enjoying my life......so If in the end I am wrong I have lost nothing.
