Did you know that "spin" can mean the attempts of people, usually politicians, to shape and manipulate the interpretations of events? Why do I think your alternative definition might well be a much better one?
I've heard about political spin doctors and atomic quantum spins.
But I'm referring to the sound made by the process of turning wool into a string.
Why can't I recall that word by now ?
Oh, I forgot to tell that this manuel process usually took place out in the country many, many years ago.
The sound resembled a purring cat.
Maybe thats why (even in my language) it's called 'spin' ?
