Maybe Z isn't a Z after all and could therefore be hiding in any number of equations perhaps as an A or an X. Is this possible or even plausible?

Way back at the Engineering College when we had to use sliderules to do calculations there was a guy who was always a factor 10 off the correct result.
It became Fischers constant - ever heard of that one ?
