I don't allow American shows in my house on the basis that they are all like members of the second largest division of a particular religion. Is that OK?

Doesn't that eliminate most of the programs available?

I do like some British programs and watch them on our BBC channel. But, there are many more American programs available. Does that answer your question? :)

You mean you have a dedicated BBC channel over there? How quaint. Our popular masses would never agree to giving another country their own channel on our airwaves. Are you aware though that we are sufficiently advanced enough over here to have more than just the BBC available to us?

Unless things have changed since I lived there, BBC had American programs. We had 6 channels back then. Do you have more now?

I'm nitpicking here but I never said the BBC did not show American programmes. What I did say was that I don't allow them in my house because they are of somewhat debatable quality. I formed that view as a young boy when I was forced to watch both The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie every week. Drivel, total and utter drivel. Are they reflective of how life is in the USA today?

If you were watching those programs, you weren't watching what I would call the cream of the programs available. Although, there is a lot of violence on TV today. :(
However, channels like Discovery, History, etc are very educational. Wouldn't you agree?

Indeed I would agree kc but I make absolutely sure that I filter out any drivel (see above). I particularly enjoy Discovery's How It's Made and How Do They Do That and thankfully, for our house anyway, they are Canadian made and therefore pass my strict filter criteria.
Are you saying that The Waltons and LHotP, as I jokingly refer to Little House on the Prairie, are not considered top notch stateside? I thought they were internationally recognised as ambassadors for the US televisual market but then I have been wrong before.

Don't tell a Cuban he's like a Mexican, or vice versa.
