Pop is a colloquial term for grandfather although it is not used very often here in God's country other than in the north east. In fact in the west of God's country, where there are is a high percentage of catholics, the term Papa is most often used. Tributes to catholic and protestant icons can be heard every week at either Ibrox or Parkhead although is must be said that the songs very rarely praise either sect. I couldn't put it more delicately than that. It is also of course an abbreviated name for popular music which was invented in God's country circa 1456, when Hector McTavish was mesmerised by the skirl of the pipes and was inspired to put pen to paper and write the lyrics to Mull of Kintyre for the Frog Chorus maestro to warble to a few years later. Indeed it is from this very story that Skirl Records got their name some five centuries later. Ever heard any of their skirlings?
