But forgive a foreigner - what are sit-ups actually ?
On your back, fold your arms across your chest and put your hands on the opposite shoulder. With someone holding your ankles and kneeling on your feel, sit up until your elbows hit your legs about half way up your thigh. If you are really gung-ho you can do these the same way, only you touch your knees with your elbows. That my friend is a sit-up.

Sounds like total and utter torture Fangy although my pure Scottish upbringing has allowed me to build an impressive physique that could probably pass this test whilst the barmaid is refilling my glass! Did you know that I manage to sit up in bed every morning? Pretty good huh?
