Hi Fangy. I am currently tussling with a small dilemma regarding my iPAQ. I want to do away with my phone / PPC combo and get a smartphone but I don't want one on a contract, binding me to one network, so finding one a decent price is all important. Touchscreen is not important but a QWERTY keyboard would be an advantage. I suppose ebay is the best place to start. What do you think?

Well you know I hate bikes of the two-wheeled variety, I haven't worked out in 20 years and I can just about fix a postage stamp to a letter, provided I don't have to lick it first.
Do they not have phones in your neck of the woods then? I thought they were quite common communication devices over there but I could have got that mixed up with a bush telegraph I once heard about.

As for phones, I don't have one, never have. I use my dad's which is a motorola trackphone. Nothing cool or huge. Just a phone. As to cells being big over here, they sure are. I almost get hit 10 times a day on my bike cause of ppl on their phones.

It's not easy/cheap finding a phone without going thru a provider. You might check out the iPhone of the Tilt.

No, but unlocked phones are not big over here. A couple of the ppl I work with bought theirs thru cellhut. But, I don't know if they ship overseas.

There are plenty to be had on ebay kc but but the likes of iPhones are not really what I am after. I still want a windows mobile device. I will just take my time and see what I can get. Thanks.

Then - Check out the Tilt. It uses WM6 & a qwerty keyboard that pulls out.
