One simple rule. Don't call anyone in Scotland, Ireland, or Wales English. Brit is O.K. sometimes. The worst part is talking to a Scot when you're in England. It's easier if you can recognize the different accents.

I hate to add fuel to this discussion, but I think you might find that The PM, Gordon Brown, is actually Scottish.
I only go by the comments they make. Of course, Bush isn't very popular in Texas either.

You are correct Box, Gordon Brown, British PM for those who are unsure, is Scottish and an enormously popular PM he is too- in Scotland. The English hate him simply because he is Scottish, but then Tony Blair is Scottish too, the English just didn't realise this!

That was what I was hinting at but if you are born in the US your nationality must surely be American regardless of anything else? This is the same "anomaly" that will ensure that Tony Blair will always be Scottish first and American, sorry British, second.

I would tend to agree. Except many of my fellow Americans seem to consider their heritage first and American second. We have African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Asian-Americans. Notice American is always second. When I tell someone I'm American of Scottish decent, they say, don't you mean Scottish-American?

I agree with you 100% Kc! Good on ya man! I'm an American. Thats all. American. While my Great-grandpa and ma, on my Dad's side, were Germans that came to America, I consider myself to be an American first and last. I don't care what anyone else says or is anyone has a problem with that. I'm an American and proud of it.
