I can play a few songs on the piano too. But, I wouldn't consider myself a pianist. I know the songs by rote memory and can't read the music. I never took lessons. My moter taught me a couple of school & Christmas songs.

Ps - I did have an excellent singing voice.

I play all the songs I know from memory. I'm not perfect at reading the notes, but my skill is passing. I simply learn the song, and then I have it wherever I go.

That's O.K. until someone puts some sheet music in front of you and asks you to play the song. I only play around the immediate family.

Of course, playing an instrument isn't much good in the Navy. Unless you plan to be a musician. LOL
