My thing is that my blood-gluclose skyrockets. I'm one of those 'lucky few' that has
dawn phenomenon to an extreme. I have to wake up between 3 and 5 AM to give myself an injection to counteract DP.
I test myself between 6 and 10 times a day.
I get up around 3-5 for an injection of regular insulin. I take another injection of 70/30 when I wake up for the day. Take another injection before breakfast. An injection before lunch. Another before dinner. And throughout the day if my blood-gluclose levels rise above 250 (which is very common for me -- for now), then I take another injection of 70/30 about an hour or so after dinner. Then a massive injection of Lantis before bedtime.
Two months ago, I was deathly terrified of needles. I now know why my doctors want to put me on a pump...
This diabetes thing is no fun at all. I hardly have energy anymore. When I do, I make sure my energy is used for exercise (I ride a bike -- part of why I wanted the Axim).
As I said before -- sometimes, life just sucks...
