Exclamation October is breast cancer awareness month

I'm sure everyone has seen the proliferation of pink ribbons already. Just wanted to remind EVERYONE that this disease is not just for middle age women...
breast cancer is on the rise for young women (with little or no risk factors) and for men too.

Please do regular BSE (breast self exams) and go to your doctor if you find anything suspicious.

Yearly mammograms are essential at catching this disease at an early stage, even before you can feel anything. The technology is getting better and better at detecting abnormalities.

*climbs down off of soapbox*
;)

Thanks, Frenchy :)
I'm going in today for my 15th mammogram :approve:

Just another reminder... a lot of imaging centers offer reduced rates in October to honor BCA Month. The one I use even gives you presents! :D

Good for you OKMama!! :approve: I wish everyone would be as alert to this terrible condition. It would be great if more people caught it early for more effective treatment!

My mom had a radical in 1978, been free for 28 yrs. Two weeks ago guess what? She's fighting BC again! She's not so young anymore. Check often, if in doubt check it out. If you pray please say a prayer for my mom.

A couple close friends I grew up with had BC, and they were both under 40. It looks good for them now, but it was hard to see them go thru treatment.

Could that have anything to do with the recent growth of wireless LAN technology?
But anyways, there's a purpose for running folding@home on your PCs. I run folding@home on my PCs.

Six weeks ago I flew to Montreal to complete a 60KM walk for breast cancer. The walk collected 9.1 million. I was great exercise , great people and most of all for a great cause. Next year I'm riding my bike (not peddle) to Montreal to again "walk the walk".
