ya, on directv tivos you cant change the quality, it just records loseless like how it comes in normally since it comes in as mpeg anyway from the satellite :)

Grentz - only 6 series - I think you'll find there are a lot more than that - I watched top gear whilst I was at school and that was quite a while ago!!!! - they did stop the show for a while but it came back due to public demand
I don't think they have ever been released as series on video or dvd - but if you like that sort of thing you could get some of 'Jeremy Clarkson's' DVD's (the tall one on Top Gear) - he's had a few out - Try an amazon.co.uk search for jeremy clarkson - I would post a link to them but it doesn't seem to store the results when I generate a link - I checked amazon.com and they dont have them.
And I am wrong you can get the best of series 1&2 of the revamped show on amazon.co.uk

BBC also sounded like they dont have a box set out....seriously, they have every other show BUT the one i wanna buy

I dont think its one of those sort of shows they'll release as complete series as it would date badly due to being a car show (primarily!) - But I've got to admit I loved the show where jeremy clarkson took a diesel around the nerberg ring and was then beaten in his fastest lap time by a girl driving the same thing (she's gonna be the new presenter by the way)
