http://www.rand.org/ Tell rand research that they don't have a clue in hell what they're talking about. this site is "At least" 3 times larger than the middle east's oil supply.
Hint: They're either wrong or lying. Since you didn't actually provide a link to the statement, I can't tell you which. In any event, digures can be spun for political reasons depending on whose viewpoint is being pushed. Some "estimates" claim that there's as much as 14 billion barrels of oil under ANWR, which is patently ludicrous if you know anything about anything. The reality is that the vast majority of the world's oil, both in quality and quantity, is in the Middle East, and if we want to get away from those people then we have to find alternative fuels. Talking points paid for by the oil industry don't change that.
Actually, since he no longer had to worry about being held to his promises, he was willing to flip-flop on his pledge to the voters to prevent any oil drilling of the coast of Florida. But nice try. Drilling off Florida won't produce oil for months or years, certainly not fast enough to alleviate the current price spike--and since the oil is owned by the price gougers, it doesn't make a real difference anyway. You do recall that oil was already in the $65 to $70 p/b range before the storms, right? All the hurricanes really did was provide an excuse for accelerating the price hikes that were already happening.

I have no idea where you get your info from but you seriously need to get educated.
Funny, I was going to say the same to you. Blithely accepting bogus information without applying critical reasoning doesn't qualify as being educated.

well anything about anything is something if that something is somewhere? where's the proof that you provide. If i'm wrong or if RAND is wrong provide proof please. And i'd like to see the proof on anwar. You seem to be the expert here, please enlighten us.
I don't disagree with us needing alternative fuels but in the mean time we need to get off of foreign oil, both for political reasons and economical reasons. the only way to do that is to get oil somewhere else, and one, no two, no three sites where this is possible is right here in the US. yeah florida's oil is minimal and anwar is no comparable to the middle east but it's not foriegn oil. and that fact you cannot dispute. And then you have RAND who says that the US has more than 3 times the oil than the middle east, You have to read up, you won't even read up and you just toss out the RAND study without even reading it. then you make statements that I don't know what i'm talking about or that rand doesn't know what their talking about? WHAT! Have you gone to anwar or colorado and done studies? NO why would I listen to the facts that you state are facts? your facts don't hold water, please provide some further info that backs your statements.

Its been my understanding that we have way more oil over here in the usa than the middle east. The problem is that the middle east was selling us oil so cheap at first we decided not to use ours but instead use all theirs up and when they run out we will have all the oil left in the usa and then the usa will start selling oil for double what they where selling theirs for. The middle east dont look like they will be running out anytime soon so we should start tapping ours now and they will become worried that we will stop buying theirs and lower the price because thats there only resource and they cant afford to lose their cash cow.
don't feel like arguing too much, not really taking sides, just wanna point out that kuwait, qatar and a couple of other big gulf countries have already diversified their incomes to be able to support themselves in such a case...

This I agree, I will stay out of this further until my Brain heals from debating Hurrican Catrina and the New Orleans issues here no this forum and in one of my college classes. (I did receive an A in the class though!)
