Question connecting axim to car stereo... input jack?

Right now i'm using a cassette adapter to feed the audio out from my axim into the car stereo system.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to connect an input jack to an existing car stereo - similar to microphone jack (9mm?).

has anyone had this done to there system? i wonder if car/stereo manufactures are going to start doing this as a feature....

Then you would just use the speaker/headset out from the PDA and plug it directly into the input jack on the car stereo.

I used to have a detachable car stereo with a audio jack built right into the face, since my broke my deck the other day I think I'll look for another one like that.

I believe this is more of what you need:
http://www.themindfactory.com/Produc...modulator.html

You can find these from several manfactures ...

Then all you need is a mini stereo to RCA cable to attach your PDA to it ... It then plays on your stereo thru the radio ...

What Planet-Ed posted would be good if you dont have a cassette player in your car. Otherwise you would just get the cassette adapter, which would probably be cheaper.

The FM adaptors have a reuptation of frequency drift. That means you have to readjust the adaptor's frequency to keep it tuned in to the radio. Some people have said it can be quite a pain for some units. All in all, the casette adaptor seems to work pretty good, unless you get one that binds, so the casette player auto-reverses. (Or unless your car doesn't have a casette player.)

I've personally never had a problem with the FM Modulators. They work great for me, and have never experienced any drifting. I can tell a noticeable difference in quality between it and the casette adapter when listening to some stuff (mainly Jazz). I haven't used one with my Axim however, it is currently being used by my XM.

I agree with schrags11 - I use a cassette adapter and it works just fine for me.

I use the Irock music adapter that transmits from my Ax to a selected FM frequency. Got it at Radio Shack for $30. Works well enough for me. It uses 2 AAA batteries which seem to last quite a while & I use rechargeables anyway.

Sorry I haven't tried it, coz I haven't got TomTom, but if it has a regular headphone jack then there is no reason why it shouldn't - like I said, I use it on my portable cd player, and axim, all standard sizes (only problem if you've got a new Ipaq with a unusual sized connection.

Depending on your car, and whether or not you have an additional CD changer, there are options to use the CD changer jack for an input.
