So... I'm watching Spongebob this morning (shut up! I love Spongebob) when I see this commercial for a line of electronic products produced by a company called Girltech.com.
At first I think, "wow! that's cool... it's about time they started encouraging girls to be interested in computer science and gadgets"
Well, THAT went out the window as soon as I saw the first product, a journal. This thing has a voice activated lock & one of the girls gushed her password "dancing queen". Then she and all her little airhead friends are writing the same exact thing in their journals... how they went to the mall & stopped for pizza and OMIGOSH! this really cute boy tripped and his piece of pizza went flying and this is where my brain started turning to mush.
You know, this really hacks me off. Here it is, the 21st century and the freakin' media and toy industry is STILL telling girls that all they need to do is have the "right" clothes, makeup and accessories, be cute and travel in a large pack of bimbos to succeed in life. What the hell?? I thought my generation and the one before that proved that women can be just as smart, do the same job and be equal to men.
I agree that women can be equal to men, but it is a double edged sword, and not many women realize that. If women wanted to be treated as 100% equals they wouldn't have special rights that men don't have. There would be no women's leagues, and so on.
I by no means think men are better than women, I'm just saying that the women's liberation wants all the rights with little of the consequences.
That being said, it always amazed me that almost every girl's toy comes in a pink box, or is pink...

Leagues should have different divisions based not on sex but on skill or athletic ability; however, I think the male ego is holding this one back - not the females. I don't think most men would be happy when they don't make the cut and find themselves the lower division. Especially, if the lower division was more 'feminine' by nature.
The toys are cute and I believe aimed at a younger market. I'd rather a toy that takes notes on 'girly' activities for my daughter than some of the dolls (I believe Bratz already were mentioned).

I have 2 daughters (16 and 13) and they are turning out just fine. The reason?
1) Homeschooling. No government "indoctrination" for my girls.
2) The gospel of Grace and right-division of the majority text. (Pauline Doctrine).
3) A father and mother who are committed to each other regardless of the circumstances and are consistent in their doctrine and discipline.
I agree with what Reese is saying. Why having a need to categorize things between Male and Female, White and Black, Religions etc... Sad World we live in. Money drives everything

It is a very sad world. Most people idolize stars and they all want material items (Half of the junk is made in china). They don't care about there religion or whats most important Like there families, or the lives of others. I can be ranting on for hours butI have some western civ homework that has to be done.....
Just my 0.02 cents,

I have two young nieces. One is all about princesses, and one is all about bugs and digging in the yard. Different parents. It might be the maternal influence.
My 11-year old daughter decapitated all of her Barbie-type dolls & glued them to her three telescopes. One of her telescopes she painted pink, because (her words), "it is MY telescope, *I* use it, and I'm a girl."...
She's a hard-core science nut, and doesn't like her dolls anymore. It is fun to keep her up late & go to the planetarium. She's also a total math geek!
We know womens' studies is a jumble of vulgarians, bunglers, whiners, French faddicts,
