Hurricane Wilma

Well everybody, you may have seen me crawling around the forums the last couple of days, i assure you this was not done with ease. Just got my power back on wednesday, and my cable and high speed internet restored today. That means 10 days without power, 12 without cable tv and having dial up running on a generator. Faired well though, house in miami had some roof tiles blow away. House in the keys had some storm surge come in, about 1.5" throughout the entire first floor but nothing seriously damaged. how did everyone else do who dealt with "Wilma the b!tch"

Again, the Tampa Bay area dodged the bullet.

I had a small taste of being without power for three days when a surge took out our pole transformer last year during Charley. Only affected the six houses on our block. But I felt fortunate that this was the only discomfort we had. Others had it a lot worse.

Of course, we are prepared every season with plenty of ice, batteries, food, propane for the coleman, and water. Gas topped off in the cars. No last minute planning for us.

But one of these seasons the area will get hit. I think that a lot of people in this area are getting too complacent about these storms. The projected tracks are quite dead on and accurate. However, they can change at any time - example Charley last year.
So, I don't feel relieved until the storm has passed well south and northwest of us. But always on guard if the storm decides to loop back.

Good to hear, "Returning to normal."

Wilma knocked out Verio in Boca Raton, host to two of my web
sites. Ugh. Hurt business but was more concerned with the folks
in Florida and the rest of the Gulf region.

Welcome back!

Welcome back. Yeah - I heard that you guys down south got hammered by Wilma. Sorry to hear that.

Wilma hardly touched us up in Volusia County. We did take some damage from the storms last year though. We were out of power at my place for about a week last time around - right in the middle of the heat. Ugh...

Coming from someone who had to put up with hurricane Rita, I'm glad that things are beginning to return to normal for you.
