Ipod a teen favourite?

I have a dell axim x50v. Im in grade 10 right now. my axim has provided me with loads of help with my school work and hours of entertainment playing snes games, but i can see why teens go for the ipods.

for one, the battery life on an ipod is MUCH MUCH MUCH superior to the axim. I cant play for more than 2-3 hours on my axim, meanwhile ipod battery life is up to 15 hours!

another reason is because hollywood made pdas look like the most expensive equipment in the world and only for the business men. Teens have money but not as much as hollywood presents the pdas to be.

also, the axim doesnt come easy to find in stores. PDAs in general, arent very large in numbers in stores, you dont see a row of 50 different pdas at a best buy, maybe 10 at most.

teens dont like to research. its a fact! we hate to research. we dont wanna research how much RAM is good, the right number of mhz or vga screens w.e . just like to buy without worry of being ripped off.

you cant personalize your pda in pretty pink silicone casings or wear it around your neck.

also the pda is very delicate. teens arent exactly the most careful people. ipods are delicate too but a lot more durable than the pda screens.

hope that answers why Ipods are winning teens hearts all over.

I am pretty much the opposite of that. I am also a tenth grade student. I love to research, find the best technology, and find the best price too. Thats why the x3i, now the x50v was perfect for me.

try going to compusa, they usually hvae a large lane of PDA's. Great for trying them out there :D That's why i've come to like the Ipaq hx 4700. See my thread here http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=105487

I myself am appealed to the iPod mainly because of
1. Small thin size
2. Durability
3. Large storage space for it's size
4. Ability to hold my ENTIRE 20 gig music + photo library and maybe even my 30 gig of "legally" ripped Dvd's.

Thats interesting. The hx 4700 is the one ppc that the local compusa/staples never has.

I never seen the hx4700 in most stores... The only store i've ever seen it is Staples in downtown Edmonton, and I don't think they have it anymore.

If you have a classmate playing the iPod, sit beside him/her and bring out your Axim and play Solterra/Enigmo on it. :p They will probably call you a show off though...

The day anmp3/video player becomes the ppc. Look at the Archos 500, its a pda wannabe. I'm guessing all mp3/video players will head in that direction

:cough: Who say teens doesn't like to research? I'm only 13 but I love to explore the world of Pocket PC. Also, can people STOP comparing MP3 player and PDA? They are COMPLETELY different things for different purposes. Also, everyone I met loves Pocket PC more than iPOD. The main reason they don't have one is because of the price. After, who wouldn't like to have a mini computer in their pocket? I work hard to earn my Pocket PC and I got mine on sale for really low price.

In conclusion, why can't people just stop comparing MP3 player with Pocket PC? They are meant for completely different purposes.

I have seen a fair bit of older people using ipods, so ipods are not only teen-magnets.

personally, I see ipods really to be used for entertainment purposes, while ppcs are less entertainment focused.

you are an exception, and an exception can never be an example. Think about the mass.

ppt, just a little while back I saw this ipod commercial featuring eminem. you won't see neil diamond holding an ipod in his hands anytime soon in their commercials. That says a lot about their target consumer market.

I'm 40 and I love my Ipod and my Axim. And Patrick Y, you are weird and that's why we like you. I also like Eminem and Neil Diamond. But my all time favorite is Vanilla Ice. Wouldn't it be cool if Ice and Diamond went on tour together? It could be called the Diamon Ice Tour!
