Don't you know? Her favorite gift of all those, is you watching with her. Sit back and enjoy it. Even discuss it with her.

Man, I just read this and could see myself in the same situation (although it wouldn't necessarily be Oprah); I loved the stealthy backing away part
This reminds me of how my wife always tells me her brother used to give her what he wanted as a gift, then ask to listen to/watch it as soon as she opened it.

My brother always gets me what he wants. Then borrow the item, like the next door neighbor, never to be seen again!

Of course, if it breaks, back it comes for repair! :rolling:

Just keep asking her stupid questions about it the whole time it's on, soon she'll get tired of it and tell you to go do something else. A trick I learned from my wife when I asked her to watch something on the history channel with me.

My wife did that to me a few years back when I made her watch a Dallas game with me After a while, I told her she didn't need to watch anymore. She knew I would want the peace and quiet

I'm glad everyone got some laughs out of this thread. I thought it was funny myself. I have been out of town for the last week and have come to understand that she did not watch any more of the video. :realmad:

Luckily, I suffer from bleeding stomach ulcers, so if I find myself in a similar situation, all I have to do is chug a tall shot of Jose Cuervo, and bingo, I'm out of the picture.

Wow! That is quite a story. Sounds like you scored enough points for a new PC or at least a new Axim.

Escape plan:
Okay, here is the plan, pick a day (say Saturday), have someone at work ready to call you with an "emergency" early in the morning on Saturday. (or pick something equally urgent to be called away to)

Then ask her Friday night if she would like to watch one of the disks on Saturday morning...

Start watching until you get the call Saturday morning, duck out while she finishes the disk. If you are real lucky the addictive elements of the show will take hold and she will keep watching. If not, she should at least watch an hour or two. You could always call and ask how she is (with real concern) apologize for running out. Ask how the oprah show is? (probe to find out if she is still watching)

If needed and if you are creative enough you might be able to get enough emergencies in to get this over with before the new year.
Also, if you can get 9-10 hours in having watched very little, this will help you implement the "USMC - Retired" plan of asking questions. Since you will have missed enough to be a little clueless.... (However, this can be risky as she may choose to have you watch some of what you have missed already to help you "understand" better )

Great idea overclockme!

I have been hoping she would watch some more during the day when I was at work but she hasn't. She has not even mentioned it because of being busy with Christmas stuff....

I probably will take it out of my sig soon. No use dwelling on it.
