Black Friday / Fail / Success

Okay, with all the strategy available for shoppin' on Black Friday, what worked? What failed?

Best success story?
Worst failure details?

Obviously standing in the long lines and getting trampled wasn't a good experience. People amaze me.

Simple - I don't go shopping on "Black Friday" - I let all the nut cases go fight those crowds.

Like CodeBubba, I don't go shopping on that day. So, I guess my day could be considered a success since I wasn't looking to buy something and I didn't buy a single item!

CodeBubba, and Andy, have a system!

So far looks like a tie for first place! :)

Haven't seen any shoppers getting run down purchasing online yet.
Anyone burnt shoppin' online?

The forum needs your story!

I only went to Office Depot to buy a 1g SD card for $29.99 after rebates. They were sold out at 9am. I bet they only started w/a couple cards.

I took your story around Central Park.

Response was the same everywhere, "Advertised SALE, bait 'n switch, not enough 'sale' merchandise in the store."

In the Park, tired of walking, rode in the "cab."

What about Black Monday (online shopping, the Monday after, when everyone spends their workday shopping on line)?

Staples seemed to have enough stuff for everyone, after we got all of our stuff they actually still had some of the 400 dollar acer laptops so we got one of those to.

I have never heard about Black Monday till this year. I bet it is this darn media people (read CNN) that is building up all this hype about Black Monday.

Its a good thing for people like me, who prefer to do online shopping rather than stand outside in the cold and freezing winter season for hours together, just so that I can get some electronics item, which I don't really need in the first place.

Did no Black Friday shopping. Stayed home, warm and nice, with a hot mug of coffee, watched some movies, played with my son, relaxed and had a nice day.

As for "Black Monday" shopping, actually did not do any shopping directly related to Black Monday deals. I had a $100 concession coupon which was expiring on Nov 30, so I used it to buy myself a Sandisk Sansa e140 1GB MP3 player from Dell. The final cost after taxes and using my coupon was a meager $1.05!!! A great deal, I should say. What's great about this MP3 player is that it takes SD card, which means I can interchange my X50v's SD card with this MP3 player.

Success: I shopped Saturday. And you can usu. find a better deal on ebay, especially when you factor in all the medical expenses that "black friday" shopping incurs.
p.s. When they run out of stock at 9:00 a.m. because of low stock, that's called "bait and switch."

Success! My wife went out at 4am friday morning to Meijer because they will price match, so she went ahead and price matched just about everything, they kept messing it up at the counter and couldnt get some things right and eventually for her troubles they gave her the gameboy advance free. Of course everything she had was childrens toys. so nothing major.
