The second bucket should be an ice block so no way for the ball to reach the bottom of the bucket.....:)

The end of the question doesn't make sense. There is no missing dollars- you should be going from $27 to the $25 that they should have paid (the bellboy has the other $2) rather than up to $30.

That's the tricky part, because most people are trying to add to get back to the $30.
