Odd packet behaviour on my system.

Ok, so heres the deal. Setup, a desktop and a laptop networed via a linksys router. All works perfectly, until this morning. My desktop gets internet fine, its just that my laptop suddenly dropped its connection for about an hour. Then all of a sudden its back up and running. Sp, i decided just to check to see if everythings ok, since that behaviour was a bit odd. When i go to Network Connections and look at my Local Area Connection 2, i see that there are like 7 trillion packets being sent and only 18000 being recieved. This is def not nornal, as i've never seen this happen on my system. Now i'm wondering if i've been infected with some sort of trojan. I ran my norton av with latest updates and nothing was found. I'm now about to run some spy ware software. I will also be looking at my running processes and my startup progs. Has anyone come across this issue before? Could my system be a zombie? Am i missing something? Thanks all. Any input would be appreciated.

That's Odd!

Run the antivirus and spyware when in "Safe Mode" to be sure the lurking junque doesn't get loaded!

thanks for the info. i did try the netstat and also and app called tdimon and nothing looked out of place. what i did manage to find was that other users were experiencing the same problem and it proved to be a network card driver issue. I will be looking into this. Thanks for the input.
