I do not find it comforting that anyone finds comfort in the death of another for any reason as that devalues all life. It might be interesting to hear the opinions of those supporting the death penalty on the subject of abortion.
What, are you saying if you kill 4 people in cold blood you should be allowed to live in prison, but if you're an innocent baby who did nothing wrong, ever, you should be killed just because your mom was stupid enought to get pregnant with you and don't want you? Ahhh, modern society! Makes me want to puke.
Sigh. No, I am not saying I am a full-on pacifist. If I were attacked, I would defend myself. With equal force as is used against me. And I am not in favor of abortion, either.
However, I am not killing anyone, nor am I aborting anyone. In the former, my government is doing the killing (which I oppose) and in the latter, I believe that education and birth control and contraceptives are a far better answer.
I do not view revenge or vengence as being synonymous with justice.
At least here in the USA we are still each allowed to have our own .02 worth. At least for now.

Once they commit the crime, there are no do-overs either. You need to stop having feelings for killers and have some for victims and families.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! I never in my life stated that I don't feel a profound sense of sympathy for victims of crime or for the family and friends of victims. I have been one of all of those in some form or fashion more than once in my life ranging from someone breaking into my home to a VERY close family member being raped. And let me tell you in all of the times that I felt anger and hatred towards the people who did those crimes against me and people I love, I never wished death on any of them.
My problem with the death penalty is not that I don't feel some crimes are deserving of it. It is that there is too high of a margin for error that may result in a person being executed for a crime they did not commit. It just seems way too sure for a legal process that isn't.

What do you guys think about the decision thats lead to his passing? I personally believe he should have gotten a second chance. But thats my opinion, I just wanted to know what you guys thought.
although he was repentative, he did not help the police bust up the gang. so technically, if he had, it could have been a deal somewhere, but he refused to help.
but he still killed 4 people. those people are still dead, whether he has repented or not. nothing he could have done could have changed it.
but if he really did get changed, he would have seen that.
i actually cant believe schwarzenegger did that. he is so liberal i thot he wlould have gone the other way..
Now, now... He was evil, Now he is dead. Now he can try to bring up his repentance with the only one that might care

He did not admit to commiting the crimes he was convicted of, or express any remorse.
He never assisted law enforcement bring his 'former' gang members to justice.
He was accused of continuing his gang activities from jail
He was involved in attacks on guards and other inmates as well as multiple escape plots while in jail.
He wrote children's books, which apparently almost no one bought.
He helped his gang get along with competing gangs (cynics would say it was so they could concentrate on commiting crimes instead of killing each other)
He was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize (anyone can be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, there is no selection process or criteria)
So...other than just general opposition to the death penalty, what makes this guy special?
My understanding is that in several of the asian countries, the family of the deceased is billed 9 cents (or thereabouts) for the cost of the shell used to execute the criminal. Not a bad idea.
25 years on death row? How much did THAT cost us? Swift justice. Take them from the court room straight to the gallows. Make it a public affair. Sell tickets.
A thief? Cut off their hand. More than twice? Take the whole arm.
Violent crime will touch everyone in this county. If you haven't been robbed, or assaulted, it's only a matter of time.
