although he was repentative, he did not help the police bust up the gang. so technically, if he had, it could have been a deal somewhere, but he refused to help.
but he still killed 4 people. those people are still dead, whether he has repented or not. nothing he could have done could have changed it.
but if he really did get changed, he would have seen that.
i actually cant believe schwarzenegger did that. he is so liberal i thot he wlould have gone the other way..

Scott Peterson, OJ Simpson, John Evander Couey, David Lee Onstott, Joseph Smith, etc... a .45 cal to the temple will take care of them. No need for a 30 year delay in execution, no need for a chance of parole to offend again, and even if they reform they STILL murdered someone. Why keep them them around?
BTW.. sorry for bringing up the old thread, but this case just resolved itself. I have a personal interest in this one. I went to school with this ass and my daughter and her friends knew this girl. I spent 2 days stomping through fields and swamps looking for the girl/evidence
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- A jury has convicted David Lee Onstott of
second-degree murder in the 2005 strangling death of 13-year-old
Sarah Lunde, finding him guilty Thursday on a lesser charge than prosecutors had originally sought.
Jurors entered a packed courtroom early Thursday evening to announce the verdict after deliberating over the course of two days.
No physical or forensic evidence had tied Onstott to the crime.
As the verdict was read, the room remained silent. Along with second-degree murder, Onstott was found guilty of battery, also a lesser charge. Sentencing is scheduled for Friday.
The minimum sentence for second-degree murder is 25 years, but he could get life behind bars.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- David Lee Onstott has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 13-year-old Sarah Lunde three years ago.
A Tampa jury found Onstott guilty of second-degree murder and battery yesterday, both lesser convictions than prosecutors had originally sought.
There was no physical or forensic evidence linking Onstott to the crime, and a taped confession investigators obtained was thrown out by a judge.
Prosecutors said Onstott strangled Sarah after coming to the house one night looking for her mother, whom he had once dated.
They said he strangled the teen and disposed her body in a pond near her home in Ruskin. She was found a week later.
The Apology and Confession
Before he was sentenced, David Lee Onstott apologized to Sarah Lunde's mother, Kelly May.
"For what it's worth, I'm sure she doesn't want to hear it," Onstott said. "Kelly, my condolences. I'm sorry."
May says she didn't care to hear the apology. But one thing she wants people to hear is Onstott's confession.
It happened during a taped interview with detectives just six days after Lunde was killed.
But the judge did not let the jury hear it during the trial.
During the interview, Onstott told the detectives he did it.
Onstott: "I did it. Are we done?"
Detective: "What's that?"
Onstott: "I did it."
Then detectives continued questioning him about how he did it.
Detective: "You said you remember choking her."
Onstott: "I remember choking her. I don't remember where."
Detective: "You don't remember where? Was it inside the trailer? Was it outside? Was it in the lanai?"
Onstott: "I don't remember. I know, I know, I know I choked her."
Kelly May knew about the confession all along. That's why she pleaded with the judge to take Onstott off the streets for good.
"I just beg of you don't let him out again," she said. "Please don't for society's sake. Because it will happen again."

there are consequences for crimes. Sometimes innocent men are put in jail. More often, guilty ones. Sometimes the guilty ones walk. Everyone deserves a second chance, however that second chance doesn't always mean a reprieve from the consequences. IMHO, "Tookie" repented his old ways and got his second chance and became well respected. For his steadfastness in not admitting to the murder, if he did really do it, that is between him and God. The family got their legal justice.
