middle east

is it just me or whenever the name of a country in the middle east or the term "middle east" is in the title of a thread the thread ends up being closed or people being angry at each other, or someone feeling bad....

what's up with that?

p.s. i hope this doesn't turn into one of them

You had 'middle east' in your thread, which instantly peaked my curiosity! Just an interesting, and personal, subject to many.

I promise I won't feel bad or get mad or anything. I just finished reading all the post's on the Iraq War Poll. Very interesting reading...

I don't have much more to add, except the fact that the soldiers need to be supported. If it wasn't for people like them volunteering there lives, people like us would be required to join the military instead of playing with our Axim's all day. Compulsory Military Enrollment is common in many countries, but fortuneatley we have so many people in this country willing to protect us, we can choose to demonstrate instead of fighting.

I like what Germany and many other Eurpoean nations do... a few years of some form of public service; police, military, forestry, hospital, public works, or something... before college. It helps to get the narrow minded away from momma for a while and gives some practical training

It's about religious conflicts. When Middle Eastern politics are discussed Religion is sure to follow. Religion is simply not a good topic for Water Fountain discussions, When you're at work (assuming you have a job ;)) how often does religion come up during breaks?

Throughout the history middle east region was a source of great human achievements and bloodiest war , as the matter of fact I think the state of war had been lasting then
times of peace. As modern, reasonable people we think that
we actually can resolve all our problems, end the conflicts, restore peace, butthe truth is that I don't think we can , I dont think we with all our pomposity can do much better then our ancestors, that doesn't mean we shouldn't try , but we should acknowledge that it might never happen.
Plus it's too hot here and people are crancky

I dunno, Europe was at war for cenuries... british feudal system, french/english war, roman emporers, Charlemaign, Napolean, Hitler, the Beatles, etc.

I don't know what makes the Middle East so... Difficult. But nothing is irrepairable... even if those nations have to be disassembled all the way to the ground and rebuilt with McDonalds and Wal-Marts

I think the christmas issue comes up alot now that it's all, well you know.

as to why the whole middle east. to my understanding islam, christianity, and hebrew religions are very very very similiar to each other. in their teachings and stories. all these religions all originated in the same general area, in the middle east. and then as history went on there was differences that lead to this and that and then to today.

its a very very passionate topic that can lead to bloodshed, both in life and in places like this. I respect my religion very much but I also respect the religion of others, I try and keep it civil but I am guilty of pushing the point past uncertainty. its at those times that the aximsite hammer dropped.

after reading some of the water fountain topics dealing with the middle east I realized that however irrelevant it is to aximsite, it is relevant to us all. I hope that these discussions can be in a good light, which is possible cause there was some good ones, and respect full to aximsite, and each other.

PEACE in da middle east + elsewhere around the GLOBE. AXIMSITE RULES!!

You're right Howard, it comes up a lot down here in the Southern United States (typically refered to as the Bible Belt) all the time. I do tend to agree with DP though in that we should try to keep it out of this site. Not eliminate it or ban it, but scale it WAY down. I personally come here these days to be part of the aximsite community. Not the religion/political debate forum. I do post some in them, but try to limit it. It is hard sometimes not to. The good things about the aximsite is that there does seem to be a higher degree if respect for one another than else where. :approve:

good talk...thanks guys

personally, i blame the media. be it al-jazeera, the jerusalem post, or fox news

I believe that the BBC is the most centric, but it doesn't get out to as many people as i'd hope (no facts, just assumption)

but, i'm an optimist, i think there's a way to solve the middle eastern problems, it'll take time though.
