I'd rather get paid based on merit than based on the collective performance of thousands of peers.

I think Roger Toussaint and the administrators of the MWU are all selfish idiots. Because of their attempt to get some extra money from the govmt. thousands of workers of the MTA lost a week's worth of pay, and NY lost millions in tourism and business.

Unions are having a large impact on our country. Look at GM and Ford.

Unions are struggling to stay alive

Actually, Unions are having trouble staing afloat. The teamsters union is struggling to keep their membership up and I predict that within 5 years, that unions will be a thing of the past and frowned upon.

I don't know about that. It really depends on what the trade is.

The decline is based on a big part because workers are too scared to stand up for there rights and support their unions!!!!
(or to join a union in the fist place!)

Just remember that the members of a union have to vote to go on strike........decmocracy at it's finest. The leaders of that union were acting on the wishes of their members. If more people would stand up like these striking workers did, we would not have such a big gap between the classes in the US!!

ehh... true but the strike was completely unnessesary, and don't understand how it actually was voted for, because it certainly didn't benefit the workers. Everyone lost.

And I can not agree with you about the "Everyone needs to stand up like them" Because what they did was illegal, and it caused a lot of damage. Millions of dollars were lost. Businesses all over had about 70-90 percent less business than usual, and it was especially bad to do it right in the middle of the holidays, when everyone does their last minute shopping.

I think if they set any example, it was a bad one. What if firemen followed this example. Or policemen, or teachers, it is the same thing. These professions are all ones that will have an affect on citizens if they strike, which is why they are illegal.

But striking in home depot or officemax, or a corporation (especially one that has competition) I don't really care about. Because as long as there is competition, it won't really hurt the consumer.

Air Traffic Controllers went on strike in 1980. Ronald Reagan fired them all.

Live from 44th & 5th Avenue.

$60.00 for a cab to go 20 city blocks! Sorry 'bout your wife's loss.

Yep, "moron" broke the law. Are union chiefs exempt from penalty?
We'll see. My vote, do the crime, be prepared to do the time! :hide:
