Matrix <=> Religion : The Gospel according to Neo

Pretty intresting article for anyone into the Matrix.

The Gospel according to Neo

The article was 2XXX characters too long to post and I didn't want to break it up..

The BBC website also has a one page article running today about the 'heavenly' aspects of the Matrix. It is a pretty good article, and I was very surprised to find it on their site!

I think it is very intresting to re-tell the 'greatest' story.

I am not religious at all but it is still an attention grabber IMHO.

I loved the parallels between Star Wars also. Sci-Fi and religion seemed to be a good match, at least for hollywood money.

After seeing "re-loaded" last night, I have to predict that the Matrix has taken an athiestic turn. I'm not sure, but I suspect it highly.

It still kicks butt.

Well, I read all of this stuff THEN went to see the movie. I thought the movie was great but I didn't personally see all of that religious connection. Well, it does have the "savior" that they are all looking for, but I thought when the people wanted Neo to bless their stuff that was a bit much. From the first movie I just viewed Neo as having more skill than the others.

the philosophy of the movie was the best part. Loved the discussion between Neo and the Architect blew all the conventions out of the water. Just when you thought it was an interesting movie, everything goes 180 degrees on me.

Oh yes, the fight scenes and the car chase was fantastic. Wasn't sure about the rave scene in Zion, but hey, let's party like is 2899.

i have not seen the movie yet but a lot of my friends have raved about it.

here's my simple fraudian thought- some times a movie is just a movie.
some people are picking the movie apart to find some hidden meaning while others are protesting its slanted view of albino's.

just enjoy the movie and have fun. and please do not follow some wanker who wants to create a religious sect based on this movie- matrixians and offers cool-aid as a really nice pick-me-up drink.

i personally thought the movie was terrible, they threw in a bunch of "red herrings" and made it sound so complicated, which then everyone digs deeply into it, when the simple fact is that there was nothing there to begin with... the movie gets an F in my book

I loved the movie (except for the ending! ugh!).... I did not go looking for Biblical/religious references. It was pure entertainment value I was seeking :)

Just to set the record straight...Im no bible basher! I just happened across the article on the BBC website....for me, the Matrix movies are just state of the art entertainment. They are not some pseudo religious analogy that needs hours of contemplation by everyone that watches them! Just watch them, if you are going to burn a couple of hours watching a movie...these can't be beat!
