I have a college certificate in "business computing". Which was actually incredibly weak. The nice thing about the IT industry is that the on-the-job learning opportunities are so vast it more than makes up for the fact that half of what we learn in formal education tends to be heading toward obsolescence by the time we leave the learning institution grounds :)
I don't even have the certificate anymore and I don't think it's on my resume. I have a fair few industry certifications and the relevant experience to justify them.
Moved from the IT industry to doing consulting in data communications. Strongly related, but different.

One more semester before I'm an engineer. Worked at a golf course (great job by the way), worked on an assembly line (crappy job if you ask me), and I've worked in a machine shop. Hopefully being well rounded gets me a good job.

Currently a Reader (an English rank lying below that of Professor) in Law at university, whilst acting as consultant in cases involving private international law for a global law firm, which allows me to continue practicing law whilst forging an academic career.
For me, it's the best of both worlds and I'm in my perfect job(s).

Hey, I have been tempted lately to move into IT/sec, saw an ad for CEH.
Dom Portwood: Hello, Peter. What's happening? We need to talk about your TPS reports.
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. The coversheet. I know, I know. Uh, Bill talked to me about it.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. Uh, did you get that memo?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. The problem is, I just forgot this one time. And I've already taken care of it so it's not even a problem anymore.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. It's just that we're putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports *before* they go out now. So if you could just remember to do that from now on, that'd be great.
