What did you study in, and in what domain are you working?

Just thought it'd be nice to know where some of you guys are working, and how you got there. I'm currently working for my government, but planning to go back to school since I only have a high school diploma, and don't really like my job... This might give me some ideas, who knows! ;)

BA in Speech Communications and minor in Psychology in 1987. Perfect for Sales, which is my profession. More recently I've taken several programming and database management classes. But I'm the minority, the majority of the answers you'll get in this thread will be CS majors and Engineers.

No college degree for me either, but over 10 years now as a network engineer / IT consultant. I also think about going back and getting a degree now - online or otherwise. If I do, would probably choose information security as the field (or as close to that focus as possible within an IT undergrad degree). But ... on the other hand, may just keep at gaining more industry certs (did Certifed Ethical Hacking last year) and gaining experience / paying the rent.

Best of luck with your choices and career ...

Hey! That's where my dad graduated from. Apparently he used to walk to school. Uphill both ways. In three feet of snow. With all his brothers on his back. Being chased by a pack of wolves.

But he was never one to complain.

Oh, and his family was so poor they could not pay attention. :hide:

I'm 1 term away from completing my B.S. in Information Systems Security. :approve:

Currently I'm working in Systems Management and my prior position with another company was as a Network Analyst. I've been lucky enough to be in the industry I'm studying for the entire time I've been in school, a lot of my classmates haven't been so lucky.

With that said... anyone in the Denver area with a position open in Security, please drop me a PM :)
