Exclamation The Movie:the Italian Job/dell

This is a high paced movie with cutting edge technology and fast European cars. Its a sequel to the originial movie from the sixties.
It will be released from Hollywood studios on May 30.
Why this on this forum?

Thats because Dell has been hired to create high tech Inspiron Notebooks to do tricks in the movie. I guess we will be seeing a lot of Dell if we see that movie.... how intresting.

However, its not sure if the Axim wil be featured in this High End Film. I think Dell should feature the Axim in this movie ,don't you all think?

In the movie - the tuxedo - an ipaq was featured.

I'll continue the off-topicness...

The Italian Job is a remake as far as I know, too. The original - late 60s I think.
Most people would recognize Michael Caine who has probably been in a hundred films (If you have no idea who he is....then you probably saw him as Austin Power's father in Goldmember).

It was a classic and it is nearly impossible to make a good remake. It is even harder when it is a well known and well made film.

This film is a TRAVESTY!

Its just trading on the name of the original

Save for a small bit at the start of the film set in Italy the whole setup is in LA.

Yet ( another) example of Hollywood running short of ideas and poaching decent Brit films!!!!

Can't wait to see it though ;)

Wonder if it will have the cool music of the original?

Hilarious. I think I'll probably end up seeing it too...I figure it has to be better than the psycho remake.
The last remake I really liked was probably Insomnia.

I'm torn...on one hand I think it's a horrible remake of a classic movie. On the other, I'm a big fan of Ed Norton.

Michael Caine was great in that movie, "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!"

1. There are no more new ideas. Just rehash old and sell it as new.

2. The target audience for this movie most likely never saw ( or even knew of the existance of ) the original.

3. They never even get a "sequel" right. Most often is changes the original storyline. Now how are they supposed to do a good job on a rehash? err, remake?

Ever hear of Empire Strikes Back, Evil Dead 2, Back to the Future 2, Star Trek 2 just to name a few. They do get sequels right sometimes, it's when a sequel isn't needed. BTW I'm an independent film maker. As for the Italian Job and Dell, forced product placement is what is the downfall of credibility. And what about the Mini Coopers?

OK, darkbaron2000, want to do some self promotion and list some of your films?

As for Italian Job, the reviews I've seen for it say it's worth using up 2 hours of your time - basically, a fun ride. A couple of the reviews in the Washington Post (and it seems like their reviewers hate movies - very few are ever positive) were some of the most negative I've read when the bottom line was they recommend seeing it, but that was their bottom line.

I'm just going to watch it because I'm infatuated with Charlize Theron. (Hottie).

Well let's see

Gilligan's Island meets The Tempest
As You Like It.......Raw!
Eve
C.H.U.D. III

Just to name a few. We are currently making a movie that has a story that we decide when we get on location so there is no real plot, but it's damn funny.

I see most mainstream movies as marking gimicks now. X-men 2 sells the Mazda X8, Matrix sells phones and eye wear. It's Hollywood's only choice now that they have inflated their budgets soo damn high. While my movies are really low buget it shows, we are still capable of getting a movie made that does the job it is supposed to. Most of theses "Blockbusters" are just lacklusters that really stink.

P.S. If you want a clip of a movie of ours let me know btisthammer@attbi.com

italian job acutally got some pretty good reviews from what i've read. 7.1/10 so far on imdb also. It may not hold up to the original but apparenlty it's done pretty well. I'm gonna go check it out eventually. and as for the axim question, damn straight they should put them in the movie!

Let’s not forget that some of the best movies made have been remakes. ‘The Wizard of Oz’ (with Judy Garland) and ‘King Kong’ (1933 version) were both remakes.
Somehow I don’t think this version of the Italian Job will stand up to the original.
